Our History

Stacey Ann LeRoy was a vibrant young woman whose family raised her in the greater Middleboro area.

Stacey attended Middleboro High School, where she was a diver, and played softball. Stacey was a girl who, even as a small child, pushed the envelope and was never afraid to put herself out there or accept a challenge. Stacey was unique, fearless, and had a generous amount of energy for whatever life held.

Stacey Ann LeRoy was a precious daughter. She was an only sister, a dear granddaughter, a treasured niece, a fun loving cousin, and a friend to many. On June 2, 2002, Stacey was lost tragically, and unexpectedly, at the young age of 16. Her short life, and the magnitude of this loss, caused a considerable amount of reflection for those that knew her. Stacey lives on in many, and her short life provides us with a special reminder…We can all be mentors and teachers, and we must never underestimate the impact we can have on another person’s life.

In 2008, with the support of family and friends, The Stacey Ann LeRoy Foundation was co-founded by Carol Pickering (President, and Stacey’s Aunt) and Mary Donovan (Vice-President and Stacey’s Mother). Carol and Mary were inspired to create the foundation in Stacey’s honor and memory, and hope that their tragedy becomes inspiration for women of all ages to live to their fullest potential.

While Stacey undoubtedly left us too soon, her memory lives on in the lives of those she left behind. In The Stacey Ann LeRoy Foundation, her family’s hope is that Stacey’s memory will continue to serve as inspiration for women of all ages through community and personal growth. The Stacey Ann LeRoy foundation has committed to provide community, educational, social, and volunteer opportunities to all women, regardless of experience or circumstance.
